This service consists of accompanying the person (physically ill, disabled, threatened mental health or lack of autonomy) to health services, for example: the health centre, the doctor, the medical clinic or the pharmacy to obtain medication prescribed. According to our code of ethics, the volunteer is required to be available for the beneficiary until their return home, in addition of respecting the confidentiality. This service is aimed at people aged 65 and over, as well as Income Security beneficiaries.
A visit made by volunteers, according to the wishes of the people, is intended to provide moral support to people confined to physical and/or social isolation.
Meals on Wheels consists of delivering a hot, balanced meal to elderly and/or disabled person twice a week.
We produce the ASNAC newspaper four (4) times a year. This journal provides information on upcoming Volunteer Action Centre activities. The newspaper is delivered to 2,065 homes.
A call made by volunteers, according to the wishes of the people, is intended to provide moral support to people confined to physical and/or social isolation.
This service offers the entire population the opportunity to purchase used items of all kinds, such as: clothing for men, women and children, as well as trinkets, books, toys, etc.
This service allows people in need to eat their fill during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, thanks to the generosity of the entire population and participating organizations.
The establishment of community work is intended to be a solution in response to the problem of isolation identified as one of the most important issues, as well as staying at home. The objective is to promote greater autonomy and quality of life for our people in vulnerable situations.
This service offers its customers the possibility of supplementing their diet with healthy frozen meals. The dishes are cooked here at the Volunteer Action Centre and meet MAPAQ standards. Our dishes are cooked by a cook and volunteers, all trained in hygiene and safety. We offer twelve main menus and three types of soup. All our meals are frozen. The price is $8.00/dish and $3.00/soup.
Collective kitchens are enriching. A place for socialization and learning, the workshops reinforce food knowledge, develop culinary skills, break isolation, improve mental and physical health, increase self-confidence, and teach planning and respecting a budget. They are an open door to mutual aid and social solidarity.
